The Stakes

What Happens When a Leader Confuses Ownership With Responsibility?

They carry what was never meant to be carried alone.

The weight becomes the whole job. Everything else suffers under it.

They protect what they were only ever asked to steward.

And somewhere along the way, the mission becomes about survival instead of purpose.

They lead from fear when they were built to lead from calling.

This book names that pattern. And it points toward something better.

A Role in the Launch

We will give you shareable content, graphics, and simple ways to tell your community what you read and why it stayed with you. Your voice is how this book finds the people it was written for.

This book is for every leader who has built something, led something, or inherited something and started to wonder whether the weight of it was ever meant to be carried this way.

Five biblical figures. Fifteen years of watching what happens when leaders confuse ownership with responsibility. One central question: what does it look like to lead something that was never really yours? Entrusted is not a theory. It is the story Joshua Updegraff has been living before he had language for it.
